About Miami Theater Center
Welcome to MTC's 10th Season!
I can’t believe it’s already our tenth season! However, it’s only our second season under the name Miami Theater Center, and we are very proud of the successful transition from The PlayGround Theatre to MTC that enabled us to widen our offerings to include performances and classes for adults.
In case you’re concerned – or confused – we want to assure you that we haven’t reduced our commitment to the young people in our community. Far from it! In addition to our MainStage performances for multi-generational audiences, our Winter & Spring Break Mini-Camps, Musical Theater Summer Camp, InSchool residencies, and OnCall hospital visits support our mission to entertain and educate audiences and artists of all ages and abilities.
This season our line up includes the remount of an audience favorite, The Red Thread; our second SandBox Series, which, thanks to a $100,000 Knight Arts Challenge Grant, has expanded to include five artists; and the world premiere of Everybody Drinks the Same Water, a medieval murder mystery set in 13th century Spain. The opening weekend of Water will culminate in a medieval street fair on NE 2nd Avenue, and the following week, MTC will host an international academic panel called Medieval Spain in Today’s World.
As you can see, there’s something for everyone at MTC, and your involvement as an audience member, artist, student, and/or donor helps us enrich South Florida’s performing arts scene. Thank you for being part of our dynamic family. We hope you enjoy the show, class, panel, fair, movie – why not try it all!?!
